Mr. James A. Lee, Sr.
Mr. James Arthur Lee, Sr., 75 of Charleston passed away February 4, 2020.
Minister Lee was born in Charleston on October 3, 1944 to the late Hunter and Grossie Lee. He attended elementary school in Charleston, WV and high school in Fayetteville, WV. He loved summers in New York with his father. He attended Prince George Community College and completed other courses associated with his career as a policeman.
James was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, cousin, friend and minister. As a child his greatest love was spending time with his maternal grandmother, Ola Mae Lee. He loved to read and spend time with his family. James retired for the Washington Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC after 24 years of service where he received numerous accommodations for his hard work and initiative. He worked his last two years of service in the office of Mayor Marion Berry.
Following his retirement, greatly enjoyed his relationship with God. In 2009, he graduated “From the Heart Ministries School” in Maryland and his Ministers License. After relocating to West Virginia, James and his wife, Lois, joined FTHCM of Belpre, Ohio. He ministered at FTHCM and the Jessup Women's Prison in WV. He later joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Charleston, WV.
On Tuesday February 4, 2020, James God called James to join his father, mother, daughter Nidya, grandson William and three brothers Adolphus, Raymond and David in heaven.
He leaves to cherish his memories-wife Lois Lee of West Virginia, three sons, James A. Lee, Jr. of Florida, James LeHunter Lee (Schawanna), MarLanio A. Lee (Carolyn) Marisol Boyce of Maryland, and Bridgett-Burgess Lee all of Maryland. James is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many friends and relatives. He is also survived by two brothers Larry Lee of Triangle, Virginia and Nelson Lee of California and two sisters Beulah Lee and Margaret Lee of West Virginia.
The family of Mr. James A. Lee, Sr. would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for all the gift of love, prayers, kindness, and support bestowed upon us during this time of bereavement where it was so much needed. James will always be remembered for his famous one response as his dementia progressed, i.e. "I know who that is...."
A tribute to the life of Minister James Lee will be Noon Monday February 10, 2020 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff C. Woods officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
